This service harnesses all that Black Swan and its partners provide on corporate due diligence - (contacts with diplomatic, intelligence, fraud, central bankers etc.) but focuses it on helping banks by providing a permanently live and constantly updated worldwide understanding of AML risk in each country.

To arrive at the risk assessment score we use 29 weighted and calibrated inputs summarised into six headings:

  • Government Stability
  • Terrorism/Insurgent Threat
  • Criminality
  • Geo-Politics
  • Business Risk
  • Non-Political

These inputs enumerate our own human intelligence analysis for each market, and are informed by a broad range of sources. For AML purposes we have created a CAML (Country Anti-Money Laundering) rating, extracting and re-weighting six factors:

  • Organised Crime
  • Official Corruption
  • Quality of Financial Regulation
  • Transparency of Financial Institutions
  • Quality of Supervision of Financial Institutions
  • Money Laundering/Potential for Terrorism Financing

These measurements will allow a direct comparison on any one of these factors between any two or more countries or jurisdictions in the world.

Whilst current data is important as a measure of relative value between countries and jurisdictions, we believe it is equally important to measure trends in order to anticipate likely future developments. We address all of these issues over three time points: one year ago, today and one year hence.
